I appreciate you stopping by to learn more. I invite you to explore the website to gain a better understanding of who I am and how I work.

Fred Rogers said, “Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”

About Me

Welcome to Victoria Counselling. My name is Alex and I provide individual counselling for adults and youth 16+, online and in-person.

I understand that finding a counsellor online has its challenges. I hope this page can offer helpful information to support you in your journey. The Process:
I firmly believe that we all have an innate potential to grow and evolve throughout our lives. Sometimes growth can be challenging and it may be helpful to gain support from an accepting and caring other. Therefore, I believe my main role is to walk alongside you in your journey and co-create a helpful way of fostering your development. I hope to create opportunities for meaningful transformation while developing an appreciation for who you are and your journey here.
Our efforts are centred around you. This means that I work from anti-oppressive, culturally responsive, harm reduction, strengths-based, and trauma-informed perspectives. I bring a grounded and compassionate approach to my work. My practice is informed by neuroscience, attachment, and developmental theories. With that in mind, I pull from various psychotherapeutic lenses, such as ACT, CBT, DBT, Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centred Therapy. These are big terms but to put it simply, I strive to match effective practices with where you are in your journey, how you operate, and where you want to go.My Professional Experience:
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #21871) with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Biochemistry from The University of British Columbia and a Master’s degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle. I am also a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. My professional journey has evolved through diverse settings, populations, and types of work. As a counsellor, I have worked primarily within public institutions, such as the Vancouver School Board and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Additionally, I pull from my learnings as an educator, student support specialist, professional athlete, coach, program director for a youth empowerment program, and volunteer crisis services responder. I embrace a stance of lifelong learning and continue to seek personal growth as I support others. I hope that my support may be of benefit to you.
